After successful installation the program adds IFC Extension command to the Navisworks Navistools IFC ribbon tab. Note that you need separate license to use this module.

 

 

IFC Extension is an extension that you can use with IFC files to get more classified information of the model item properties. You can also create different reports with it and generate COBie data of IFC2x3 files. IFC Extension is working independently with native IFC file and it doesn't need that graphical model is opened in the Navisworks. However if the model is also opened in the Navisworks then IFC Extension will work interactive with it.

Third Party Licences

IFC Extension is using xBIM Toolkit libraries. xBIM libraries are made available under the CDDL Open Source license.

Open and Populate IFC file

First open sample model C:\Navistools2018\Ifc\AC11-Institute-Var-2-IFC.ifc to the Navisworks. Then connect IFC Extension to the same file by using Open File command from the Navistools IFC Extension interface.

After that press Populate button to populate IFC model hierachy to the treeview control. 

 

 

 

Swithing between Show Properties, Reports and COBie modes

 

When Show Properties mode is selected application will display properties of the selected treeview item in the right pane. Pane has 3 tabs for displaying different type of properties.

 

When Reports  mode is selected application will display reporting functions in the right pane

 

 

When COBie mode is selected application will display COBie data generation functions in the right pane. It is only indented for IFC2x3 files at the moment.
